How do I start ordering a wedding cake?
I'm glad you asked! You are probably here because you like what you see in my work, tasted my cakes at an event, or have been referred by a friend. So now it's time to inquire about a cake for YOUR special event! Congratulations! I can't wait to meet you! Ideally, you should start inquiring about a wedding cake 6-8 months in advance. Not in that time frame? Let's talk and see what my schedule looks like.
CAKE TASTING
Check me out for yourself! Contact me to set up a time in which you and your fiancé can taste some of your favorite wedding cakes flavors. I offer to go boxes or we will meet at my home in Olathe. I am available M-Th 9am-5p and evenings at 7:30p. Your consult will take between 30-45 minutes depending on if you incorporate a design consult as well.
After your tasting date is arranged, please give me 1 weeks' notice to bake up to 3 flavors with complementing fillings of your choice. You will find a list here. My frosting is made with real butter and a high ratio shortening which produces a superior taste and texture. Please notify me before the tasting if your wedding reception will be outside during the summer months. I will adjust the frosting recipe to eliminate the butter.
Tastings are for 2 people for a $35 fee.
DESIGN CONSULT
If you choose, you can incorporate the design consult into your tasting appointment. We will discuss your vision for the cake, how to incorporate elements you may have on your "must have " list, and I will have my past work as samples we can refer to. I will gather this information and sketch up several designs to send to you to begin the process. The goal is to get a design you love, meets your budget, and provides just the right amount of servings.
THE WEDDING CONTRACT
Each wedding cake requires that a wedding cake contract be completed. It will contain all the details of the cake, where it is being delivered, cost breakdown, and contact information. This simply assures that we both know what to expect from each other to make this a great experience. Here is a peek at a blank form.
